How to recognize it

  • Average length: 50 to 100 cm.
  • Its body is light-colored with dark spots.
  • Its back is brown, green or blue and has large dark spots. Its flanks are silvery. The salmon turns darker when it is in a river.
  • It has a large mouth with strong teeth.
  • Large and highly visible scales.
  • Completely black salmons are rare. This happens when the salmons are blind.
